Social workers consider not only their clients’ emotional needs, but also basic needs such as access to adequate housing and health care, food security, access to transportation and other variables that affect their clients’ well-being. This allows social workers to address client needs on a more person-centered level. Social workers focus on both individual clients and how their environments affect their lives.
